okay, atlanta is not chicago, new york, or other cold city places. but it is snowing (don’t laugh so loud all you northern people) and people are flocking to my office starbucks for something good and warm. there is no room to sit down anywhere and people are not only standing in line for coffee but a place to park themselves in a chair.
so i was sitting at a table with three chairs. one for me, one for my computer sling pack, jacket, gloves and hat and one chair for the different people I meet with. so with it being packed you of course give up an empty chair, and you also move your stuff out of the empty ghost chair. but than you allow someone to sit at the same big table as you and work on their computer like you are working on your computer.
so what’s next do you talk to the person? do introduce yourself? do try to carry on a conversation? why do you even have to ask those questions, the answers are yes, yes, and yes. why because people matter to God! and they should matter to me. so i have a new friend on a snowy day @ starbucks.

so today is friday and christmas is next week. i’m sitting today in starbucks getting some work done for 1027church and the urban atlanta impact initiative. my wife has been texting me about wanting to finish up some shopping tonight. tonight we also will sit down with our family and talk about what God God has spoken into our hearts about giving to “the gift.”
“the gift” is this amazing way 1027church encourages people to stay focused on christmas being all about Jesus and being a giver. “the gift” is a one time offering every year at christmas that goes to international missions, national missions, this year blood water who does clean water and medical work in africa through the local church and then some of the gift goes to church planting. at 1027church we are a church plant and believe in church planting.
so im praying that “the gift” this year will be amazing and i know God will use it to change the world. i’m also vvery excited that on sunday through an art auction 1027church will be giving a gift to project rawanda which provide (2) coffee bikes which we are working with land of thousand hills coffee. 1027church is a giving church. and as we race into new year we will continue to give and sacrifice with our partnership with atlanta community food bank.
merry christmas Jesus and merry christmas world

this week has been very difficult week for me personally. not sure why? i started the week meeting some new amazing friends dhati and john who are coming to atlanta to plant a church that will reporduce others.
there has been the typical busy stuff at home but at our house it seems we are always wide open with (2) teen-agers. by the way they both be at grady high school next year freshman and junior . . . wow i’m getting old not pam though.
but in the midst of this week where the challenage has probably been little or no margin, howard hooked me and thomas up with a moonpie and a coke and about 10 minutes of conversation. man was that good for my soul. well maybe i do not need the moonpie and i need to drink more water. but the kindness was awesome and spending time w/ howard and fred at the clairmont hills baptist church priceless. not to mention they helped a church planter out with some storage space again priceless.
then to wrap up our time together the power of prayer – fantastic.
well today is thursday and lots today not to mention spend some time praying.
thanks howard for the moonpie and thanks fred for always being a friend.

took my two boys up to the woddward indoor skate park today. it’s hard to believe we do not have an indoor skate place in the city. but we so much it’s okay. while they were getting there skate on i got some time to read a new little book by n.t. wright – christians at the cross. it is a great book.
but back to skating, asa and seth are good, okay(that’s a dad’s opinion.) they skated for three hours it always looks like a great work-out. plus they have alot of fun.

I’m thinking about prayer today. what it means to my neighbors, friends, and people in the coffee shop in my city? when I use the word prayer in a sentence what arepeople thinking about? or the famous I’ll be praying for you or our prayers are with you?
prayer to me seems like such an important part fo following Jesus Christ. there seems to be times in my life where I would say my prayer life is tracking out aok. other times it seems my prayer life has gotten lazy and needs a jump start.
overall I think prayer is so much about the relatiosnhp I have with God. And usually makes me so much more aware of Him and all his desires than getting something I think I need or having a problem get fixed.
not to mention what prayer is all about a form of worship.
